The Fellowship of Churches of Christ in Nigeria (in Hausa, “Tarayyar Ekklisiyar Kristi a Nigeria” – TEKAN), is the largest Christian ecumenical body in the traditional “Northern Nigeria” It has a following of about 29 million spread across Northern Nigeria comprising 19 states of the country. TEKAN was established in 1955 for the purpose of Christian unity and evangelism. TEKAN Peace Desk (TPD) is the project arm of TEKAN. It is a faith-based, non-profit, non-governmental organization, established in 2007 with the mandate of strengthening the capacity of communities, churches, critical stakeholders, women, youth and people with special abilities in Northern Nigeria to understand and manage conflicts for positive transformation through the following thematic interventions; training workshops on conflict prevention and monitoring, conflict mediation, trauma healing/psycho-social intervention, humanitarian relief, interfaith dialogue and the production of news bulletin. A Programme Coordinator heads the Peace Desk, with an Advisory Board of seasoned professionals backed by a well trained and experienced management team and staff.
