FAITH FOR PEACE(F4P)
Empowering local actors to promote peace building , human rights, democracy and religious tolerance in Nigeria
“TEKAN Peace Desk’s Faith for Peace project in Gombe State is making significant strides in its second year, with impactful activities implemented across its four components. In the first year, we successfully conducted consultative meetings with traditional and religious leaders, advocacy meetings with wives of legislators, and capacity-building sessions with community groups under the advocacy and collaboration component. Under peacebuilding, we trained duty bearers on gender mainstreaming, human rights, and peacebuilding, and also equipped media with conflict-sensitive reporting skills.
Additionally, we facilitated multi-stakeholder workshops on peacebuilding, mediation, and interreligious dialogue. Our psychosocial support and livelihood component has empowered three beneficiaries with vocational skills training in Billiri community. Throughout the project, our management and coordination efforts have ensured seamless implementation, with regular virtual meetings among partners to share experiences and plan future steps.
We are proud of the progress made so far and look forward to continuing our efforts towards promoting peace, tolerance, and human rights in Gombe State.
